Afternoon Dump 2/11

Welcome back, hope you had a nice nap.
For all of you out there who aren't in Australia (the 2 out of 10 of my entire readership) It's Melbourne Cup day and just in the spirit of things I'll probably post the winner whenever that happens, which was mid blogging. Now what has been happening so far today?

Well, whilst you've been losing your money and acting like a complete twat (probably), our country has been completely fucked over by the banks...again.
http://www.news.com.au/money/interest-rates/reserve-bank-board-interest-rate-decision-live-coverage/story-e6frfmn0-1225946624323
The interest rate rise isn't so bad, when you've got a FLASH MOOOOB!

T-Mobile employs Flash Mob group to sing to passenger's, roadblock an entire 3 minutes worth of telly and then sell you a brand new phone no one will remember in about a week's time.
It did remind me however how good the song 'Return of the Mack' is and I will probably throw it into a mix sometime soon.
Meanwhile in New Jersey: ZOMBIES!
http://www.nj.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2010/10/zombies_invade_asbury_park_to.html#modk_smoref_digg
The new world record has been set by New Jersey for most zombies in a single place. Over 4000, New Jersey is now known for the most zombies, instead of just the most tan obnoxious, tan, juiced-up, zombies.
In gaming news:
BLACK OPS IS ONLINE

Whilst I'm not a fan of The Rolling Stones wheeling and dealings, I do love Gimme Shelter...probably coz of too much Rock Band, but anyway, speaking of the vidya.

It's on like Donkey Kong....Returns.
Whilst I'm not a big fan of the big ape, I do enjoy seeing speed runs and watching mates play it from time to time, it's a fun game regardless, but just not my platforming taste.
I love Hey Ash Watcha Playing, I even mentioned it's co-creator, Anthony Burch, in my first ever posts. Did you know they did a podcast?
Well, they do and you can listen to it here
Now, wanna know why it hurts every Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning?

THE SCIENCE OF HANGOVERS (Zach Galifinakis not included)
Now speaking of something Uni students don't do often, should you get a master's degree:
http://topcultured.com/a-masters-degree-is-it-worth-it/
With the average cost being between $28,400 and $38,700 you would hope it would be worth it, especially if you were expecting a job after it.
Unsurprisingly: everything can kill you.

Something as a child I would often do and mentally worry myself to death, is picking out anything on long road trips or when I was bored at school, and would think of a Rube Goldberg/Final Destination style deaths if anyone would accidentally knock something or just started freaking out.
I was a morbid kid.
In more common - non depressing child - news, someone finally realises that idiots use the internet too and that most people use it to be lazy rather than moderately productive.

For any budding writers doing NanoWriMo, here are 20 publishers which might consider your book Webification recommended....for the right price and no royalties or anything worthwhile really.

I am 1800 words in so far this week and have been incredibly lazy today coz I'm worried about my eye-strain. I might have to switch to hard copy for just a bit.
If you own an iPad or iPhone and after seeing that Black Ops trailer, wanna get your bloodlust on, there are plenty of games with a bit of the crimsons shine ready for you to play,

After the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, we do have to remember how much TV has changed the way we view politics for better or worse.

I think that post-Vietnam, there was no real way for people to go back to the pre-WW2 propaganda does of everyone just nodding agreeing a-BUY WAR BOND-S.
http://www.care2.com/causes/health-policy/blog/drug-from-evergreen-tree-kills-cancer/
Whilst I'm not a big fan of natural cures, apparently there is an evergreen tree which cures cancer. Unlike saying my bonsai tree cures cancer, tests are still being done and money is being exchanged.
Brazil has taken a step forward in the equality front with electing it's first woman president http://www.care2.com/causes/politics/blog/brazil-elects-its-first-woman-president/
Brazil has now got a reputation of having sweet music, great sports and a woman president...now all we need is good music to be on par.
In cute news: http://regretfulmorning.com/2010/11/this-is-my-new-friend-can-we-keep-him/
Why can't we all just get along?

And finally, just in case you've been living under a rock for a month (how did you do it?) the biggest fails are here for October 2010.
